Natsukashii
There isn’t a single English word for the joy of finding forgotten items in your pockets, but some cultures and languages capture similar feelings. In Japanese, “natsukashii” describes a nostalgic joy from rediscovering something cherished. A close English phrase might be “serendipitous joy” or “pocket surprise delight,” but none are perfectly succinct.
Today I found my real iPhone charger and my ear plugs. Natsukashii seems to be the only joy one has in this economy 😂 here’s to 2025 🍻
